Because, if you want to sell something spontaniously, and fast, you can set up a mobile friendly .Tel domain, and encode it as a QR-Code (you generate a code from a website URL, for example), and print the code and display it, where smart phone owners can scann it (and click to decode it), and then interact with you and your offer.

Speed, is what matters, and you can act fast, with a .Tel domain, a QR-Code generator, and a QR-Code reader. This sort of interaction, one can only achieve with mobile websites. And Dot Tel is already "out of the box" mobile. No need for a webmaster and a webdesigner, there. And the "no need", would be a time saver and advantage, in connection with QR-Code usage. Again: Time saving matters.

With ".tel", I think, people can't easily make the bridge from Internet domain to telephone, respectively, why should a website URL have a extension, that reminds you of "tel-ephone"?

Dot Tel domains, are usefull, now, but for for getting tidy earnings through advertising or selling, it is far too early. But you should nevertheless learn all about .Tel, and how to improve and populate a .Tel domain. Because when things take off, you should be ready, and even better: Already established with your .Tel's.

Think twice, befor your intend to drop your Dot Tel domain(s). Act fast, to get a Dot Tel name, as long as it is still available.

Don't forget, that the future of Internet, is in mobile computing, mobile Internet, mobile phones, and mobile websites. Desktop PC's are being replaced by mobile laptops with an aditional bigger external monitor, so that they can be used at home, as well as away from home. And soon, you will be able to interact (more) between your stored data on your smart phone, and your laptop. I will give you a couple of examples of recent implementations of QR codes in Southeast Asia. The first one is of a Singapore magazine publisher using the QR code in a Lenovo ad. The idea is to engage the reader with the product in a more interactive way. This is achieved by putting a QR code inside the ad; for more photos of the model (both the person and the notebook) the reader could scan the code, which will redirect him/her to a mobile website with more interesting content. One can imagine many more examples of implementations of 2D barcodes with regards to advertising, like engaging the reader with the advertiser and publisher through lucky draws, special campaigns, etc.

Aurora started life originally in 2008 as the Eeebuntu project; A customized redistribution of Ubuntu; modified specifically for the Eeepc range of netbooks.

Originally a simple collection of scripts and hacks to get Ubuntu 8.04 onto an EeePC it grew into a distribution of its own

By the end of 2008 Eeebuntu had released version 2 of Eeebuntu; over the next 6 months over 400,000 downloads were achieved: Not bad since only 40,000 copies of Version 1.0 were downloaded.

In May/June 2009 the Eeebuntu team released 3.0 to great reviews across numerous review and blogsites such as Linux.com, Techrepublic and The Register.
To add to the value of Eeebuntu; support for a wide range on non-eeepc netbooks was added to the acpi and kernel.
In June 2009 after an astounding 25,000 downloads, within a week of releasing standard and NBR editions, Eeebuntu were nominated as a finalist in the Sourceforge choice awards 2009. Then in july, after being named as a Finalist, Eeebuntu won the category as "Best New Project of 2009".

In September 2009 the team announced work on Eeebuntu 4 (eb4) but the project would see a shift in support. In December we announced that, as well as a Debian base, we would be looking for Eeebuntu to be supported on all systems : laptop, netbook and desktop alike.

Using simple Web technologies, you can turn your smartphone into a multipurpose device to control your computers.

Phone technology has come a long way recently. The gap between personal computers and handheld devices is becoming smaller. I keep hearing the phrase “death of the PC”, and there may be some truth to this statement. However, I believe many of us will continue to need access to larger and more powerful computers that are too big to fit in our pockets. To me, the best of both worlds is to have full control over a larger computer from my phone.

Many new smartphones have advanced Web browsers built in. With this technology, you can access an interface configured to run any command on almost any computer. It is fairly trivial to run a Web server on a Linux box. If you take the appropriate security measures, you quickly can build a Web interface designed specifically for handheld devices.

Security

The approach shown in this article is to use a user account to run commands on the system. Of course, there are security concerns in doing this, but with the appropriate precautions, it can be made reasonably secure.

The system will rely on Wi-Fi. This makes sense when dealing with handheld devices, so configure your Wi-Fi router with a password. Users that want to connect to the local intranet will have to enter a password into their device before seeing anything. Most devices will remember the credentials and connect automatically once in range.

To minimize the risks in the event of a security breach, let's also create the user account with minimal permissions. This is a good safety measure, even though the interfaces will expose only “safe” commands.

Setup

Install the following from your distribution's repository if not already installed: Apache2, apache2-suexec and libapache2-mod-perl2.

The first package is the Web server. If it doesn't start automatically after the install, run the command:

/etc/init.d/apache2 start

The second package allows you to run the Web server with the credentials of a particular system user. When it is installed, you need to issue the following command as root to enable the apache module:

a2enmod suexec

Some of the examples presented here require Perl CGI interoperability. The last package is needed for that.

Now, you need to configure Apache to run as your little-trusted user. On our family Linux box, I created an account for all the kids. The user name is “saturn”. This account can do things like play music and watch videos. However, it doesn't belong to any groups that can delete or change things of importance. So let's use this account as an example.

Edit your apache config, and add the following line to the default VirtualHost (*:80) or to the VirtualHost you want to use:

SuexecUserGroup saturn saturn

Apache runs as root, so it has the ability to run scripts as any user. The line above tells Apache to run as the user saturn and group saturn.

Now, restart Apache, also as root, with this command:

/etc/init.d/apache2 restart

The Web service now is running as the user saturn.

The Simplest Example

Playing a sound file from the command line is fairly trivial, and it's a good way to exhibit the simplicity of this setup—one button for one action.

Many mobile browsers are starting to support WebKit CSS. This is exciting, because a couple lines of WebKit code can do some really fancy things. The last two lines before the last curly bracket tell the button to have rounded corners and a color gradient background.

Now you have a nice-looking button. Point the browser on your phone to the IP address of the Linux computer. You should see something similar to Figure 1.

As the number of Android-based smartphones continues to grow, both consumers and manufacturers have enjoyed the increasing popularity of open-source-based mobile devices. In a June 1 report, ABI Research predicted that such growth will continue—and not based on the success of Google's Android operating system alone.

Citing Google's figure of 60,000 Android smartphones currently shipping each day (though at a May 13 shareholders' meeting, Google CEO Eric Schmidt raised the number to 65,000), ABI said it expects Linux-enabled smartphones to outstrip the growth of the rest of the worldwide smartphone market and win a 33 percent share of the market by 2015.

"Due to its low cost and ability to be easily modified, Linux in the mobile market today is nearly as disruptive as Linux was in the server markets a decade ago," ABI analyst Victoria Fodale said in a statement.

Fodale noted that much of operators' interest in Android has come thanks to its flexibility. Motorola, for example, has built its Motoblur functionality on top of Android, and HTC similarly built its Sense interface on Android.

"The Android platform can be modified so that OEMs can differentiate their products," Fodale continued, "and the licensing terms allow OEMs to innovate while still protecting proprietary work."

While Google is surely the frontrunner, Fodale noted, "Android is not without competition."

At the Mobile World Congress in February, for example, Samsung introduced the Linux-based Bada operating system, with Samsung Electronics Executive Vice President Ho Soo Lee saying Bada offered "a powerful opportunity for developers to get their applications onto an unprecedented number of Samsung devices across the world."

ABI described Bada as being "kernel-configurable," meaning that it can run on the Linux kernel or on a real-time operating system kernel, which means it can run on a variety of other devices as well as on smartphones.

The same week as the Bada debut, Nokia and Intel introduced the Linux-based MeeGo platform, which offers an application development environment called Qt.

"Applications and other content are not in a walled garden; rather the ecosystem is more like an open frontier," Kai Oistämö, Nokia executive vice president of devices, said in the announcement.

In a June 2 report, however, analysis company Ovum questioned how viable a competitor MeeGo will actually be, unless Nokia and Intel start selling far more smartphones.

"From the perspective of most third-party developers, MeeGo remains an unknown and unproven quantity that is entering an already highly competitive and crowded landscape," wrote Ovum analyst and report author Tony Cripps, adding that in the short term Nokia and Intel should focus not on smartphones but on other devices. They could then "capitalize on any successes to 'cross-sell' the benefits of Qt development onto Nokia's Qt-enabled feature [phones] and smartphones."

Cripps added, "Doing so may not prove easy, and will require considerable investment. We have yet to see whether MeeGo and its backers have the stomach for the fight, but it would be wrong to write off its changes until we see the merchandise."

For now, it's still Android that will be pushing Linux-based mobile phone growth forward. In a May 19 report, Gartner announced that Google's OS put in a phenomenal showing in the first quarter of 2010, with a 707 percent year-over-year increase in North America.

Files and programs can be downloaded several ways in MEPIS Linux.

MEPIS, first released in 2003, is a popular Linux distribution for both novices and savvy computer users. The graphical interface uses KDE, with functions similar to Microsoft Windows. Built on a Debian base, MEPIS has access to thousands of programs from the Debian repositories and downloading programs is an intuitive process. Files, music and photos can be downloaded via any web browser by a simple mouse command within the web browser.

Built-in Bluetooth is a useful netbook feature.

Asus bumped up the size of its Eee PC netbooks in 2008 with the launch of models such as the 1000H and 1000HA. The two netbooks feature larger, 10-inch screens and share many other specifications, but differ in several key areas.

Hard Drive

The 1000H, with an initial list price of about $50 more than the 1000HA, is equipped with an 80-gigabyte hard drive. That's 80 GB less storage than offered on the 1000HA.

Bluetooth

Owners of the 1000H enjoy built-in Bluetooth capability, enabling use of devices such as a Bluetooth mouse. The 1000HA lacks Bluetooth support, although it can be added via a Bluetooth USB adapter.

Let’s say your Asus Eee PC doesn’t have internal Bluethooth adapter. Does it mean that your are stuck with using an external USB adapter? Apparently not.

Frustrated by the ugliness of plugging a USB bluetooth adaptor into my Eee PC, I decided that the best thing I could do was gut a bluetooth adapter and install it internally.

Description

How to install on (K)Ubuntu 9.10

(Please let me know if you experience any problems with the packages!! My email address is in the Contact Us section below. I only got to test the deb files on KUbuntu 9.10.)

To install on 32-bit Ubuntu 9.10 you can try this EXPERIMENTAL deb file (this installs today's snapshot of the unstable branch).

The way to use the deb file:

sudo dpkg -i gtalx_0.0.5_i386.deb
# or if you have 64 bit Ubuntu

# you will get a dependency error after the above line so you'll need to execute this next:
sudo apt-get -f install

To remove this package execute:

sudo apt-get remove gtalx

How to build & install on most Linux distros

1. Install prerequisites

In general you'll need QT4, gcc and probably some other development packages that you need to build binaries on your system. If you want to upgrade to a new version, uninstall the old version first. I collected the dependency packages from Ubuntu, you'll need these libraries. Since you'll need to build gtalx, get development packages (if your distro has separate dev packages). Here is the list:

libraw1394-dev
libvorbis-dev
libgsm1-dev

For the ./make script to work properly I also needed the pkg-config package on Ubuntu.

If your distro has speex, mediastreamer2 and ortp (see the last 3 items in the above list) you can try what you get form there, but in general gtalx builds and installs these if your computer does not have them. There can easily be a version conflict here; if you are unsure and you do not use ubuntu, do not install these, let gtalx take care of them. Please make sure that you do not have ortp installed but mediastreamer2 not installed as these 2 are very closely related and mediastreamer2 will not build with versions of ortp that it does not expect. On Ubuntu 8.10, 9.04 and 9.10 it is safe to install the libmediastreamer0-dev and libspeexdsp-dev packages, on the rest either install speex, mediastreamer2 and ortp or none of these.

In my experience on Slackware 12 you'll simply need to install QT4.
On Zenwalk you'll need (use netpkg) qt4-devel*

2. Perform the build

* Extract the tar.gz file into any folder you like (tar -xvf .tar.gz)
* Change into the created directory, add execute permissions to ./make (chmod +x ./make) and run ./make

3. Install

* Become superuser (su, or use sudo)
* Execute ./make install

If all is ok, after these steps you can execute gtalX by typing gtalx at the command prompt (or you can start it from the start menu).

If you want to uninstall, you should execute the uninstall script as root from the directory where you called ./make install. Actually after you have installed gtalX successfully, you can delete all the source and build files, but please keep the uninstall script. The uninstall script alone will let you uninstall gtalX, you won't need any other files to do that.

If you use the unstable version then on Ubuntu instead of the ./make install step you can create a deb package by running
./make ubuntu
Then proceed as usual about installing a deb file (if unsure, see above)

Comment:

We test/use gtalX on Slackware, Zenwalk and Kubuntu. If you are using a different distro and gtalx does not build, or there is another problem, please let us know. If you have a fix for the problem, we would gladly and gratefully integrate that fix into the software, but we do not have the time to test this software on any other distributions. Still, we surely hope that it will work on more than these 3 ones. Actually we know that it works on gentoo, opensuse and fedora as well.

How to translate

If you have an installed gtalX with our make script, in the /usr/share/gtalx/languagefiles directory you will find a file called Hungarian.txt. Copy that file; the name of the new file should be the English name of the language into which you are going to translate gtalX (e.g. French.txt or German.txt). If you start gtalX in an environment that is different from English, gtalX will load the file automatically. If no such file exists, it will print an error message that you can read if you start it from a console. E.g.

language file not found: /usr/bin/../share/gtalx/languagefiles/French.txt

Obvoiusly if you want to translate gtalX into French, you need to create a file called French.txt in the above mentioned directory. Once you have copied Hungarian.txt, edit it, and I think it is easy to figure out what is to be done.

The second line in Hungarian.txt is:
"Translated by"="Fordította: Békés József"

This is a text that will appear in the About dialog; put your own name so that it will be displayed in the About dialog.

If you start gtalX from your console, and a translation is missing, gtalX will complain and will tell you which item is missing in its output to the console. Otherwise it will substitute the English phrase for missing translations in the application.

If you want to translate on an English system, you can modify gtalX's language if you start it and specify the LANG environment variable, like this (if you enter this into the console, gtalX tries to start in German; since there is no German.txt it fails to do so...):
LANG=de_DE gtalx

Looking at the early days of Dot Tel promotion, I remember such things, as:

--> Single first names (Ben, Henry, Justin, Emma, etc.)

This is not really addressing maintream. And I hadn't seen any proper mainstream endeavours, so far, elswhere, from the registry.

Perhaps, the „small businesses approach“ or:

But that didn't work. Some small businesses discovered .Tel without any promo from the registry. Because they „got it“.

And so, in the past, there was simply nothing done, for a „mainstream Dot Tel domain“. Nothing at all.

And which is actually a shame, and where the registry had badly failed to „go for it“.

For the first time, there is a chance to bring .Tel mainstream, because QR-Codes are showing up, on the horizon.

These codes work with mainstream, as already proven during ten years in Japan. If... you educate mainstream. But which was done. And done good.

And no company will be discriminated. Any code of any company that gets scanned, already has the attention from the consumer, which is therefore a potential customer for the provider of the code.

The „sit and wait, and see“ attitude, would not work this time, with QR-Codes. This would perhaps even kill your company, if you think you can remain in the same degree of passiveness.

No: Action is needed. You must get active. And better now.

How to make a unique QR-ironed T-shirt?

You will need to have QR T-shirt package from Kitchen Budapest for making a KIBU styled QR T-shirt. If you don't have one, and are interested in or you would like to have a QR Code T-Shirt please send us an email for this address: qrt-shirt@kitchenbudapest.hu.

Besides our QR T-shirt package, you will need an iron, an iron-table, and a tracing paper to continue.

You can generate your QR code for example using the free service on qrcode.kaywa.com. Please check what is the size of your sample QR code sticker - is should be 21x21 or 25x25 matrix. This is important to know, because you have to use a specific lengt of text to target a specific size of QR code while encoding.

(To read the QR code you will need to install decoder application to your computer or mobile device. You can find help on our T-shirt message project page under "Resources".)

For example, to generate a 25x25 pixel QR code you have to use a text containing more than 11 but less than 20 letters.

Here is a help:


21x21 QR code:      0-11  letters

a.) If you managed to generate your QR code, the next step is that you will have to reproduce it manually to have an ironable sticker.

Now you have to use the QR code sample sticker found in your package, and remove the exra pixels from it. Be careful, for you will remove pixels form the back side of the sticker, you have to think mirrored. You also have to take care to remove pixels from the white areas of the QR code.

One strategy to avoid mistakes to print the QR code mirrored and remove the pixels while keeping one eye on the print.

Even better strategy is to print the QR code in the same size as the sticker, then temporary fasten the print to the sticker by tapes, and then use a pin to punch the white areas systematically to make visible holes on the sticker sheet. After doing this you can easily remove the punched parts from the sheet.

Don't trouble if you made a couple of mistakes - the QR decoders can handle some errors in the code.

b.) If you have your QR sticker you have to transfer on the T-shirt by ironing it. You will have to follow these instructions for best result:

1. Put the sticker sheet onto the T-shirt with the plastic glossy side up.

2. Put a sheet of tracing paper or fabric on the top of the transfer sheet to avoid the iron being contacted directly with the plastic side of the transfer sheet.

3. Iron it for 15-20 second by 160°C degrees with an average pressure on the sheet.

4. Wait for a couple of minutes for the sheet to get cold.

5. Remove the plastic film of the transfer sheet.
Your T-shirt you made in this way is durable and washable
at a maximum of 60°C degrees.

6. You are ready... smile and wear it!

Last step: customise your geek avatar!

Using the spare black pixels you removed from the transfer sheet you can customise the "geek" avatar printed on the T-shirt. For a basic idea you can make a feminin or masculin character as you can see on the picture below.

Or you can use your creativity at this part - just place the black pixel remains anywhere you want - to make hair, mouth, nose or shoes for the avatar - put a piece of tracing paper onto it and iron it!

Others have noted that if you have enough contrast between foreground and background, most readers will still recognise the code – but lets make every block a different colour! Yup, it still works! Its a lot more prettier and fancier, but a thing to note is that you should still use colours that are a high contrast to the background. 5. Determine whether or not you will install the computer yourself. If so, make sure the directions make sense before you buy the computer.

Bike computers add an interesting extra dimension to cycling. In their simplest form they tell you your speed and the distance you have travelled. The more complicated ones will give you much more information such as your pedal revolutions. They can be useful for improving performance or simply for curiosity sake to see how many miles you have covered this week or whether one route is shorter than another.

Plus it’s a lot of fun to keep beating your highest speed!

As with all our other guides I’ll take you through what things to look for in a good bike computer and then I’ll pick out some of the latest and greatest bike computers that are well regarded.

What to look for
Ease of use – many come with just one button but often that can make it tougher to use. Other things to look for include well sized and designed buttons so you can quickly tap them while you are cycling. Keep in mind that if you are wearing cycling gloves the buttons will be harder to press.

Setup process – Often where bike computers stumble is in the setup process when you need to input your wheel size for accurate calculations.

Wired vs. wireless – a lot of the newer bike computers are now wireless. This makes them slightly more expensive but is usually worth it for simplicity. Avoid the cheapest wireless ones as the accuracy is likely to not be very good.

Mount – It should be possible to very quickly remove the bike computer when you reach your destination. Also the mount should be easy to fit and not wobble whilst cycling.

Display – You want a clear display so you can check stats without taking your eyes off the road for too long. The larger screens usually mean you can fit in more statistics which is a bonus.

Functions – Checkout the list of functions to see if it provides you with the statistics you need. Ask yourself which ones you are genuinely interested in.

White Bordeaux: Oft-Forgotten Bliss. Fine white Bordeaux.

Compared with the relatively simple task of making red wine, white wine is far more complicated and labor intensive. Picking the white grapes, is difficult and time-consuming.

The white grapes are more delicate than the reds, and must be picked at peak ripeness and handled gently to avoid oxidation. This sometimes requires multiple passes at the same vines over the course of a couple of weeks.

In the cellar, the red wine is fermented in huge steel tanks, before being put in barrels to age. But the white is fermented in small oak barrels, each of which must receive individual care to make sure a secondary fermentation does not take place.

As the wine ages, the sediment, or lees, in each barrel is stirred periodically, which contributes to the wines’ voluptuous texture. One bottle of white requires 70 times more precision than one bottle of red.

Warum Winzer mehr aufs Design achten sollen:
Wohl jeder hat es schon erlebt, dass er sich im Laden für ein Buch entscheidet, weil das Cover schön aussieht. Beim Wein ist das nicht anders. Sinne steuern den Kaufprozess bereits, bevor die Flasche entkorkt ist. Keine Frage, das Auge trinkt mit. Flaschenform, Etikett, Schrift, Farbe und Präsentation stechen dem potentiellen Käufer als Erstes ins Auge. Die Bedeutung der Optik ist immens und häufig ist sie entscheidendes Kaufkriterium, belegen Studien. Das gehe sogar so weit, dass vom Aussehen der Geschmack beeinflusst werden kann. Wein und Design sind Teil modernen Marketings und besonders wichtig vor dem Hintergrund der rasanten Marktentwicklung.

Denn die Welt des Weines dreht sich immer schneller: neue Rebsorten, neue Regionen, neue Verschlüsse - alles wird bunter, globaler. Und noch etwas hat sich geändert: Weine werden im Supermarkt gekauft. Da steht ein Australier ganz selbstverständlich neben dem Rheinhessen, oder ein Chilene neben dem Rebensaft von der Nahe. Beratung oder Probe? Fehlanzeige. Desgleichen bei Einkäufen im Internet. Wer als heimischer Winzer im positiven Sinne seinen Wein zur Schau stellt, kann sich der zunehmenden Konkurrenz nur erwehren, wenn er neben der Qualität seines Produktes auch auf eine professionelle Vermarktung setzt und den Weg nach vorne antritt. Dazu gehört ein anziehender Look.

Der richtige Ton
So wie über den Look transportiert der Weinbauer auch über Worte ein Stück weit die Identität seines Weingutes. Was nutzt die schönste Internetseite oder der durchgestylteste Folder, wenn der Text nicht mithalten kann. Wie beim Design, so ist es auch beim Inhalt von Werbematerialien ratsam, Profis zu konsultieren. Beratungsresistenz ist hier fehl am Platz. Text- oder PR-Dienste wissen in der Regel, wie sich Informationen verständlich und prägnant verkaufen lassen.

Nicht das Verbreiten von Winzerlatein ist gefragt, sondern ausschlaggebend ist es, den richtigen Ton zu treffen und zwar passend zur Unternehmensidentität. Fazit: Zeitgemäßes Marketing von Wein soll Kunden auf den Geschmack bringen und verlangt Text und Design mit Anspruch – attraktiv, kreativ und angemessen. Oder in der Winzersprache ausgedrückt: Qualität mit Prädikat.

Ein als schön wahrgenommenes Etikett erhöht zudem die Chance zum Wiederkauf, ergab eine amerikanische Studie. Mit dem Etikett allein ist es aber nicht getan. Gut gemachte Broschüren oder Preislisten etwa sind zusätzliche Verkaufsargumente und Imageträger. Dabei gibt es viel zu beachten, von der Papierauswahl bis zur Auflösung des Fotos.

Profis um Rat fragen
Langweilige Logos und Etiketten, angestaubte Wappen, liebelose Internetseiten oder amateurhaft gestaltete Flyer schrecken Interessenten dagegen mehr ab als viele Anbieter denken. Natürlich lassen sich Bestandskunden davon weniger beindrucken, sie haben den Wein auch beim Trinken schätzen gelernt, aber letztlich hat jeder Verkäufer das gleiche Ziel: alte Kunden nicht verlieren und neue akquirieren.
Man möchte manchem Winzer den Mut wünschen, hin und wieder Konventionen über Bord zu werfen und bei der Verpackung seines Produktes neue Gestaltungselemente einzubauen. Aber Vorsicht: es geht keinesfalls darum, um jeden Preis aufzufallen und Etikettenschwindel zu betreiben. Nicht jeder Tropfen verträgt ein peppiges Etikett, bewusst Traditionelles kann ebenso wirken. But what can be done in one dimension can be done in two as well, and adding the dimension of height as well as length can increase the amount of information available.

In Japan most mobile camera phones can now automatically read QR codes. The codes are printed in magazines, on signs, buses, business cards and even t-shirts. When you scan the code the information in it can take your phone direct to the product’s website. For example in 2008 author Alexander Besher's sci-fi book Manga Man was promoted in Japan with T-shirts emblazoned with QR codes that when read took your mobile to the website to download a chapter. So in the future what you wear could become a doorway to the web. As Holmes might say, "Elementary my dear, what’s on?"

Vogelschwärme gefährden Flugzeuge

Eine riesige Mülldeponie grenzt an weite Teile des italienischen Flughafens Triest. Die in Meeresnähe ansässigen Möven profitieren genau so vom „Nahrungsangebot“ der Deponie wie die zahlreichen Krähenvögel, Tauben und Stare. Die Schwarmvögel gefährden startende und landende Flugzeuge massiv.

Schwärme von Vögeln zwingen Flugzeuge zur Notlandung

Durchquert ein Flugzeug einen Vogelschwarm, geraten die Tiere in die Triebwerke. Dadurch fallen Düsen und Propeller aus, eine Notlandung ist unumgänglich. Eine Notlandung ist noch die harmloseste Variante. Zivile wie Militärmaschinen sind deshalb schon abgestürzt.

Propangaskanonen und Stereoanlagen sollten die Vogelschwärme ferngehalten

In regelmässigen Abständen knallten Propangaskanonen, mehrere, auf dem Flughafengelände verteilt aufgestellte Stereoanlagen, die die Warnrufe der Vögel wiedergaben, sollten die Vogelschwärme von den Start- und Landebahnen fernhalten. Ohne Erfolg.

Falken sind die Lösung

Wenn Falken als natürliche Feinde dieser Vögel über dem Flughafenareal in der Luft sind, traut sich kein potentieller Beutevogel der Falken in die Nähe. Die Falkner patrouillieren nach Absprache mit der Flughafenaufsicht, das heisst, sie fahren mit dem Auto vorgegebene Start- oder Landebahnen ab. Der Falke folgt dem Falkner in der Luft. So wird der Raum über der abgefahrenen Zone weitläufig frei gehalten. Die Flugzeuge haben „freie Bahn“.

Kostspielig, aber wirksam

Der Flughafen Triest beschäftigt insgesamt drei Falkner. Das garantiert eine permanente und flächendeckende Wirksamkeit. Pro Falkner und Jahr bezahlt der Flughafen Euro 80'000 bis 100'000. Im Vergleich zu den Kosten einer Notlandung mit Beschädigung des Flugzeuges rentiert sich diese Ausgabe allemal, von den Abstürzen mit Toten und Verletzten ganz abgesehen.

Le prime Botteghe da caffè vennero aperte nella seconda metà del Settecento, forse seguendo l'esempio degli omonimi locali veneziani decantati dal Goldoni, ma assumendo immediatamente un'inconfondibile impronta viennese negli arredi e nei servizi offerti. Commissione di Pulizia (sic) e Sicurezza Pubblica" dove si leggono interessanti disposizioni relative ai locali pubblici.
Per esempio veniva concessa, alla Bottega da caffè, l'esclusiva della vendita di "Acque fredde e calde, Thè, Caffè, Cioccolata, limonate, sorbetti ed Acque sciropate" e la possibilità di tenere "Bigliardi da soldo e cuocere biscotterie". Degna di nota è pure la raccomandazione fatta al proprietario di non permettere nel suo nel suo locale "Scandali, ritrovi sospetti e Giochi, e di contribuire alle quiete e morigerateza". Alla morte del propritario, questa prima Bottega da caffè venne rilevata dal giovane di bottega Giacomo Miniussi che mutò l'insegna in Da Caponi.

Numerosi erano i caffettieri, nell'Ottocento, e svariati i locali sparsi per tutta la città. I Caffè che lavoravano di più erano indubbiamente quelli siti in Piazza Grande. Il più vecchio era il Carrara che poteva tener aperto tutta la notte. Se di giorno al Caffè si trovavano rivendugliole e capiscarichi che passavano il tempo giocando a faraone o panfil, di sera il locale era frequentato dalle compagni che si esibivano nel vicino teatro. Sempre in Piazza Grande, nel secolo sorso, sotto il Municipio c'era il Caffè Litke, poi Municipio, quindi Garibaldi, al pianterreno del Palazzo del Lloyd c'era il Caffè Orientale dove si ritrovavano pensionati, mentre palazzo Stratti ospitava, allora come oggi, il Caffè degli Specchi che riflette l'immagine di una città cosmopolita.

Poco distante dalla Piazza Grande, il Caffè Tomaso, oggi Tommaseo, allora rinomato per i suoi gelati, il Caffè Nuovo sito sotto la Dogana e il Caffè Stella Polare. Al caffè si andava per chiacchierare, riposarsi e bere il caffè seguendo un piccolo rito che consisteva nell'accompagnare la tazzina con un bicchier d'acqua spruzzata di mistrà. In alcuni locali c'era pure l'abitudine di sorbire il "caffè al bagno", cioè di berlo anche quando era traboccato nel piattino.

Dalla fine del Settecento, al Caffè, venne introdotta anche la possibilità di leggere i giornali. Fu il Commercio il primo locale che mise a disposizione di gente polita, a pagamento, sedici gazzette italiane, tedesche, francesi ed inglesi.

La clientela dei Caffè era, secondo Pierantonio Quarantotti Gambini (cfr. Al Caffè con Quarantotti Gambini inEnrico Falqui, Caffè letterari, Roma, Canesi, 1962), fortemente caratterizzata: c'erano i Caffè spiccatamente politici, quelli riservati agli ufficiali e agli alti funzionari austriaci, quelli prediletti dalla borghesia professionista, altri sede di incontro di anziani uomini d'affari o di sportivi e c 'erano, ancor più numerosi degli altri, i Caffè letterari.

Tornado alla descrizione dei locali, va detto che, accanto ai maggiori, c'erano moltissimi piccoli Caffè caratterizzati per l'immancabile presenza della cuccuma di rame che bolliva instancabile, sul fornello. (Soltanto con il primo dopoguerra il moka abbandonò la cuccuma per diventare espresso e uscire dagli oziosi Caffè per entrare nei frettolosi bar) Il più pittoresco pare fosse il Caffè Greco sito in Piazza della Borsa con tanti tavoli esterni dove i clienti levantini fumavano il narghilé o adoperavano lunghi bocchini e pipe di gelsomino. Non si poteva fumare invece al Caffè della Borsa, poi Borsa Vecchia, dove si ritrovavano gli ebrei polacchi che venivano in città per acquistare cedri rituali. C'erano Caffè, per così dire, malfamati quali Alla Minerva e Marittimo siti in quella Via Crosada, ricordata da ogni triestino per la vicenda di Antonio Freno.

Moltissimi sono i nomi che si potrebbero menzionare di Caffè che furono e di Caffè che sono ancora l'immagine di Trieste, di una città che muta volto e abitudini passando dalla stagione invernale a quella estiva. Anche i Caffè si adeguano alle stagioni: d'inverno sono affollatissime le sale interne con il loro arredo ottocenteco o liberty e lo spirito inconfondibilmente viennese; d'estate vengono preferiti i tavolini all'aperto e i Caffè sembrano quelli di una località balneare. Ricordiamo, per concludere la carrellata, il Caffè San Marco che, inaugurato nel 1914, e superate alterne vicende fauste e infauste, è ancor oggi testimone dello spirito mitteleuropeo della città.

Die Buffets in Triest entstanden vor über hundert Jahren zuerst in der Nähe des Hafens und aus einem daraus resultierenden Zweck: Die vielen Hafenarbeiter, deren harte Arbeit bereits mitten in der Nacht begonnen hatte, bereits am Vormittag zu stärken. Klar, dass das am besten mit deftigen Sachen ging. Und auch heute noch sollten Vegetarier einen großen Bogen um die über 50 Buffets in der Stadt machen: Denn sie bieten in erster Linie Würstel, Schinken, gekochtes und geselchtes Fleisch, ganz nach altösterreichischer Tradition, dazu einfachen, süffigen Wein und Bier vom Fass. Gegessen wird traditionell im Stehen – obwohl die meisten Buffets heute bereits mit Tischen ausgestattet sind. Buffets sind kommunikative Orte ohne Standes-Schranken, die von Arbeitern wie von Generaldirektoren gern besucht werden. Auch die Tischkultur ist unprätentiös – Papiertischtücher sind Standard.

Please post, why, and how you got banned, respectively, if there was a mentioned reason for banning you from the forum.

However, from my point of view, Aled Williams had banned all the brains and important contributers from the forum, and that, as a result of that, the numbers of active forum members had gone back, from about thirty, to about five regular active members, within only a few months. If you will, the forum is pritty much dead, at the moment.

Multitasking with virtual desktops is better

Dual laptop panels/screens, dual pc monitors/screens, or a mix of laptop and pc screens, as well as multiple virtual desktops on each screen, for more productivety, when managing .tel domains, and other domains.

The idea of the dot tel domain, is to consolidate all social and business media links, weblinks, etc., on one interface.

Basically, when you divide one workstation, into multiple monitors/screens, and one screen/desktop into multiple virtual desktops, than you are quasi working according to the same idea, by consolidating same related data onto one workspace.

We can go from the above drawing, and do a bit of thinktanking:
The drawing does show us a real situation: And we should implement all info from all mobile devices into a "collecting point" (PC or laptop).
Using pen and paper is still very important, but how to?: Best usage of pen and paper, is always by mind mapping.

First of all: For everyone to understand: Dot Tel is mainly for (small) businesses: "Click-to-call (me)", "my phone number is Rita.tel". It is easy to rember "Rita.tel": Just think of two nice avocados, or simply, "Tita", and "Tel"... (only kidding).

Mind you: You are only fully equiped, with a .Tel. Period. For a full bodied .Tel: Populate, populate, populate, populate...

Who said, that .Tel aint sexy?...

Whatever. Now the hard bit about .Tel:

What is happening under the Telnic Christmas tree?: Surprise, surprise...

Despite the promissing Telnic Road Map, there is hardly any important action, comming from Telnic. I wonder, if they are working hard, or just not caring much, about .tel, and maybe investing their time in other economic projects.
The dot tel domain, may be only be one of many other ventures of the members of the board of directors. It is hard to guess, or figure out, what those people are up to,

and if they are really serious and ambitious about .tel. But they don't give you the impression, that they are. From a business point of view, they look rather undecided, not much active, till nearly passive. So, how do they spend their time...?

We have seen, that if there is not a constant boost, than people give up upon the dot tel domain, as it looks like the .tel project and adventure is quasi abadoned and finished.

(Nadya is currently travelling: Nadya Morozova, Director of Community Outreach, at Telnic Ltd, who had banned a few of the most active and important Telnic forum members, for ever, can still make you confdident with her winning smile...) (It is funny: Nadya reminds me of the juggler, above..., respectively, of a court jester...)

But, "game over", now: Seriously:

The way Telnic does business, neither looks like German, nor Swiss business stile: It may be British snail business, though...

Up and till now, it was only quasi keeping .Tel alive, with a little tweak now and then, but without any substantial input or efforts.

I guess the Telnic people have put part of their cash into the housing market, and bought their own office, rather than paying rent or mortgage.

Where the rest of the money may be, if any left, only they are able to explain. And why they have not invested more, or just a bit of money into the dot tel domain.

No: It is not "Lucky7Slots": You must work (hard) on .Tel's success (and invest a little bit of time and money, for it to become fruitful). Every baby needs a lot of care and attention. Or else: No go, and "baby no grow big".

After scaring away a lot of faithful .tel holders by practicing wrong management, false economy and poor promotion, and which gutted .tel holders have dropped their domains, as a result of that fact, Telnic has still not come up with more transparency, which could make .tel holders feel

more comfortable and confident.

(Dot tel holders aint dummies...)

Why can't Telnic make time-limits, and then stick to them, rather then making very vague statements, about future features to come?
There is neither a propper time management, nor any other sort of reliable management, but a large number of so called managers and directors, not making clear, what they achieve.

No: Dot Tel is not "going yellow".

You may say: At the end, it is the results, that count. Very true. Only, have we not seen a lot of great results. The real work is done by thrid party services, such as the NeuStar service provider for registries, or had also been done by Webnames.ca, whos sub company had produced the "Love Train" video.

All these difuse cirmumstances, don't make it any clearer, to see, where the dot tel domain is heading.
If it happens to have any direction, goal, etc.
Just the Road Map, going bit by bit, step by step, is not enough.

Click-to-call: Hello Telnic?

If no significant and substancial input: No output. I am sure the board of directors at Telnic have learnt something that makes sense, in business school, which is not only all about their own profits, that they can make, but also about how to make a company viable and successful. "Cash Flow", may be one of the keywords..., to make you hear some bells ringing.

Every accountant knows the basics about how financially successfull businesses must operate.
No proper concept, and no accounting that is aimed for creating and maintaining a viable company, is simply bad for any company, and will surely result in a future, where the company's days are numbered.
You choose and decide. But we are only .tel holders trying to understand...

Money for the company, and not for your own pockets. And last but not least, we, the .tel holders want a piece of the action,

that is yet to come. Telnic, make it happen. Now. Or shortly after Christmas. Pull up your socks, pants and sleaves, and go for it.

(Telchina, is supposed to bring the big success..., without having been (very) successful within the British home market... This, of course, is pre-programmed to not fulfill the expectations.
However, Telchina is showing, that they are very crafty and creative...,

and which is actually a good example for Telnic in London. But it is not the learning attitude: It is the "wait and see" attitude of Telnic. Such a pitty, and possibly financially counter productive.)
